Not Just A Table!
The task is to design a table for model displaying during the critics in the architectural department. Students get to know the whole developing process from drawings, component prefabrication, and to the final assembly. Moreover, they learn how to cooperate with others in teamwork.
Task Overview
Design a long table for displaying models in the review room. The main construction material is wood. The design and construction of the model table should comply with the following principles: stable structure, light weight and portability, and novel form.
Construction materials:
Main materials: Wooden components (cross-sections: 20×10mm, 20×20mm, 20×40mm, 40×40mm).
Wood board (thickness 10mm).
Bolts, other metal connectors or wooden bolts.
Function and size requirements:
Model table: 1.6 meters in length × 0.4 meters in width × 0.8 meters in height. The model table can withstand a load of 30 kilograms and maintain lateral stability.

Understand the differences in the combination methods of wooden components

PHASE III [Training and Trial Construction of Machining Tools]
Students learn to use basic wood processing tools and possess knowledge of safe operation

PHASE IV [Building the Final Long Table]
Design and construction are carried out together, and the final long table product is constructed in groups
